Career abstract

In June 2012 Bas Barendse graduated as an Architect at the Delft University of Technology. Before he started his architectural adventure in Delft, he graduated in 2009 as Bachelor of Building Environment at the 'Hogeschool Rotterdam'. During these four years as a student of constructural engineering his interests in architecture grew explicitly. In 2009 he desided to give his student career a sequel and began his study in Architecture by participating the pre master course. The following master programme consisted out of two design studios. The first studio resulted into a interesting 'Dwelling' project located in Hafencity, Hamburg. The second studio was an unique 'Interior' project which gained a lot of recognition and was eventually completed with the exhibition 'Theatres of Democracy' in the Dutch House of Representatives. These two successful studios formed the strong  basis to enter the 'Dwelling Graduation Studio'.  One whole year of research and designing eventually resulted into a unique and characteristic urban 'working and living' enclave,  named 'Urban Pixels'. This graduation  design is rewarded with an Archiprix 2013 nomination.

His professional career kicked off in januari 2013 at Claus en Kaan Architecten in Rotterdam. He began as an intern for a period of four months. Today, Bas Barendse  still works at this same office which is nowadays better known as Kaan Architecten.
