Van Tijnplein

The ‘van Tijnplein’ design is comprised of commercial units as well as a housing programme for ‘starters’. These two urban elements complete the circulation between the existing commercial area and densify the lifeless heart of the shopping center of Naaldwijk. A complete urban transformation was needed to improve this circulation. On the ground floor several commercial units are directly connected to a newly added shopping street. Due to the lack of starter dwellings in Naaldwijk, 22 apartments are stacked on top of the new commercial strip. To improve interaction, a communal roof terrace is designed directly behind the first layer of dwellings. The horizontal lines of a gallery on the first floor are accentuated and therefore distinguish the different programmes.

This design was made in corporation with architect Stefan Pastijn - under the supervision of HET architectenbureau.
